The Long Island Ravens M.C. sponsors a Pipe and Drum band which has brought prominence and respect to the Club on and off Long Island.

Started in December of 1994, the original purpose of the band was as a brotherhood event during the winter months. All members had no prior experience in piping or drumming. Our instructor, Dan Armstrong, quickly whipped us into shape and within a year had us playing as a unit. Our first public performance was at our Fourth Anniversary Dinner in March of 1996.

In the effort to distinguish ourselves, the band designed and produced, in Scotland, our own unique tartan for our kilts. The colors of the tartan are based on the Leather Pride Flag consisting of Blue, Black, White and a stripe of Red. Our band uniform includes our leather vests.

The only (so far as we know) known Gay/Leather Pipe Band, we have since marched in many parades and Pride marches including NYC, Montreal and Ottawa.

In the summer of 1997, a Color Guard was formed as an extension of the band. Varying in size based on event needs, up to 16 members of the Color Guard march ahead of the band proudly bearing our standard and flags including the United States, United Nations, Leather Pride and Gay pride flags.

Along with our sister band, New York Scottish, we have combined for many events and each band lends it's members for what ever functions arise. The two bands work together seamlessly and enjoy stepping out as friends and fellow musicians.

Participation in the Band and the Color Guard is voluntary and is open to any person (straight included) who wishes to commit their time and effort. We offer instruction in both piping and drumming for those interested and no experience is required.
